This month, we bring to you another drop-in that gives your players a moral dilemma: Is a life without hardship worth surrendering your freedom?

At first glance, the village of Amberhollow seems like a place blessed by the gods. The crops are plentiful, sickness is virtually unknown, and the villagers are some of the happiest people your adventurers are ever likely to meet. Everywhere they look, smiling faces carry pots of golden honey said to cure illness, heal injuries, and bring peaceful dreams.
Of course, nothing in fantasy is ever quite that simple.
The Honey Queen is a low-level Thursday Drop-In designed for groups that enjoy investigation, roleplaying, and difficult choices. As the players dig deeper into Amberhollow’s prosperity, they may begin to notice that the villagers’ happiness feels a little too perfect. Their devotion to the honey borders on obsession, and no one seems interested in questioning the source of the village’s good fortune.
This adventure works especially well for Game Masters who enjoy presenting villains that aren’t entirely villainous. The Honey Queen isn’t a rampaging monster or a power-hungry tyrant. She genuinely believes she is helping those under her care. In many ways, she is. The question your players must answer is whether comfort, health, and happiness are worth the gradual loss of independence that comes with them.
If you’re looking for a drop-in that mixes folk horror, fey magic, and a healthy dose of moral ambiguity, then The Honey Queen may be just what your next session needs.
Keep on gaming! 🎲
