Hobby Bench Update: Elementals, Angry Eyes, and Creepy Crawlers

09/09/2025

Happy Tuesday, and welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts!

Today I’m excited to share some of the crafting projects currently on my bench.

I’ve been working on the four elementals from Brite Minis, all printed support-free on my Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro. Each was primed in black and given a SlapChop drybrush with light gray—except for the fire elemental, which started with a clean white prime. From there, I brought them to life using Army Painter Speed Paints, and they’re now just about finished!

Next up are two Angry Ball of Eyes miniatures from Fat Dragon Games. Like the elementals, these were printed support-free on my FDM printer—and honestly, this might be my favorite sculpt from Fat Dragon Games.

I primed them black with a rattle can, gave them a SlapChop white drybrush, and painted in the eyes with white gesso. Right now, they’ve got a creepy, almost undead beholder vibe. The only thing left is deciding on their final color scheme!

Here’s a Drake from The Printing Goes Ever On, printed on my resin Elegoo Saturn 3. I mounted it on a 2-inch wooden base, added a rock under its front foot for extra support, and textured the ground with craft sand.

The model was primed black with a rattle can, and next, I’ll be airbrushing on some zenithal highlights before diving into the paint job. Once that’s done, I’ll finish the base with a bit of grass, and this beast will be ready for the table!

This is a giant centipede-like monster from The Printing Goes Ever On, printed in resin and mounted on a 2-inch wooden base. I primed it black, gave it a light white drybrush, and then layered on some Army Painter Speed Paints. With just a few final touch-ups, this creepy crawler will be finished and ready to slither onto the table!

Finally, I grabbed these little finds yesterday at Dollar General, and I’m planning to turn them into some DIY ropers for my Underdark terrain set. I’m even considering recording the whole process for my YouTube channel, Tabletop Thoughts.

What about you—have you ever created your own DIY monsters? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!

Keep on gaming!
