Welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts!
This video is on turning dollar-store garden pieces into graveyard statues for your TTRPG.
I love looking for ordinary items that you find cheap to use on the gaming table. I picked up 6 of these garden pieces from my local Dollar General. They were on clearance and I paid $0.15 each. In this video, I will take a pair of them (one of each of the 2 designs) and convert them into statues that I can put into a graveyard scene.
Here is how one of them looked at the start of the process.

I had to deal with the motivational inscription on the front and then make the piece look more depressing and bleak. I filled the words with 3D resin and hardened it with a UV flashlight.
I primed them black and added a gray overbrush. I used a 2″ wooden circle for a base and flocked it with stone and grass. The end result is nice and very little work. I definitely would have no issue dropping these statues onto my tabletop graveyard.
Have you ever used ordinary items on your gaming table? If so, please leave a comment and tell us what you did. We can always use inspiration for future crafting ideas!
I have more painting videos in the process.
- Painting a Basilisk video
- Painting a Beholder video
- Painting a Witch’s Cauldron video
- Painting a Small Cottage video
- Painting Underdark-themed dungeon sticks video.
Plus, I am working on a video that takes a scene from a published module and converts it into Schrodinger’s Scene for my random Encounters folder. You can never have too many encounters waiting to be dropped into your campaign. Plenty of material in the pipeline so check back often!
Keep on gaming!
These are fantastic. Great video!
