In November 2021, I created a post about using a local notice board in your sandbox adventure to give your players. You can read the original post here.

I have seen other online DMs like Professor Dungeonmaster (here) using this same technique. This allows the players to determine what in the game world they find important and pursue those goals. The PCs want treasure and wealth, they can follow the rumors to an old dungeon and ignore the request for help for the nearby village.

There are links in the older post to the resources that I used to create the notice board. While the 1st board may take a little time to make, the rest are a lot easier and can be used to give quests, rumors, or lore (especially if it points to an older mentor figure who can deliver exposition through conversation).
