Ogre Giant Painting (Video): Step One, Don’t Let Him Intimidate You

11/18/2025

Happy Tuesday, and welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts!

Big, loud, and freshly painted—just how we like our tabletop troublemakers.

Today we’re talking about my latest YouTube video, where I took a swing at painting an ogre giant —and let me tell you, this beast has so much ego I’m surprised he didn’t demand a turntable and spotlight. This one’s all about keeping things simple, fast, and surprisingly clean for a model that looks like it wrestles mountains for breakfast.

This project was a straight shot from bare resin to tabletop menace.

Prime. Highlight. Speed paints.

That’s the whole sacred ritual, folks.

I hit the ogre with a solid prime, tossed in some quick pre-highlights to give him that “I have several gym memberships and use none of them correctly” kind of energy, and then dove straight into speed paints to slap on some color and bring him to life.

No tricks. No drama. Just me, an oversized mini, and the growing concern that he demands union breaks.

Why This One Was Fun

Giant minis come with their own goofy charm—you’re basically painting a small piece of furniture with attitude. Every brushstroke feels like progress, every highlight looks dramatic, and by the time you finish, you’re half-convinced this thing deserves its own room.

More to Come

I’ll have more paint jobs, terrain builds, and drop-in adventures coming your way soon. Thanks for hanging out and checking out the ogre!

Keep on gaming!
