Painting Progress: Ogre Giants, Elementals, and Trees

11/04/2025

Happy Tuesday, and welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts!

This week’s project is all about getting my ogre giant finished up — and it’s coming along nicely. I printed the model in resin on my Elegoo Saturn 3, then applied a black primer and a white dry brush for the classic SlapChop base. So far, I’ve got the brown cloth, black hair, and green skin all painted in. Next up: the wooden club and those gnarly ogre teeth!

I’ve also been filming the whole process for an upcoming YouTube video, so keep an eye out for that soon!

After the ogre giant, I’ll be moving on to the elementals I need to restock for my Etsy store. These Brite Minis models will get a quick SlapChop treatment and be ready to go in no time. The fire elemental always takes the longest — I start with a white base and layer up through the colors since, well, fire doesn’t have shadows… it makes them.

I’ve also got a batch of Fat Dragon Games pine trees ready to paint for the Etsy store. They’re already primed and dry-brushed, so it should be a quick finish — a few layers of India ink, a light green dry brush, and they’ll be ready to hit the shop!

I’m also planning to break out the airbrush tonight to add some zenithal highlights to a whole gaggle of resin miniatures. And if something in that pile happens to catch my eye — well, it just might find its way onto the painting table too.

Keep on gaming!
