A Shambling Progress Report: Zombies, a Banshee, and One Big Ogre

10/28/2025

Happy Tuesday, and welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts!

The crafting table is packed this week as I work to bring more miniatures to life and get new pieces ready for the Etsy shop. Between painting sessions and finishing touches, it’s shaping up to be a busy (and colorful) few days ahead!

This open grave terrain piece comes from The Printing Goes Ever On. I began with a black primer, followed by a light white dry brush to highlight the details. The ground was coated with brown India ink, then I applied watered-down PVA glue to the areas where I wanted to add a touch of green flock for that freshly-dug look. I used two different grass flocks for a more realistic appearance.

I went ahead and added a light brown dry brush over the exposed earth, a warm caramel tone on the roots to make them pop, and a few extra colors and washes on the tombstones. Everything came together beautifully — the results look fantastic!

The Fat Dragon Games zombies are shambling along — a little slower than I’d hoped, but they should be finished before Sunday! I’ve added a few more colors, and next up is a wash on their hair to bring out the details, plus a bit of work to finish the clothing on a couple of them.

I’ve also got a banshee from EC3D Design on the table. She’s rocking her eerie green skin now, but that’s about as far as I’ve gotten. I probably won’t have time to finish her before Sunday, but she’s definitely on the list!

I printed this Ogre Giant from a Humble Bundle I picked up a few years ago — completely forgot I had it until now! Naturally, I had to fix that oversight. He’s mounted on an FDM-printed base and just needs a good priming and some highlights before I can start painting him up.

I’m also planning to wrap up a video where I take a look at all of these models (and a few extras), along with some good old-fashioned rambling about crafting and painting in general.

Keep on gaming! 🎲
