Happy Sunday, and welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts!

This week, I was able to complete a number of scatter terrain pieces related to rocks.

Here are some crystals. I primed the crystal parts with acrylic gesso. I have seen the Monster Painter use gesso, and I had some, so I thought I would give it a try. It worked well enough for this project. I am not sure I would use it on miniatures. I used craft paints for the rocks, but miniature paints for the crystals. I coated the finished pieces with matte clear coat, then used gloss Mod Podge on the crystals to give them a glass-like shine. I need to work on my edge highlighting technique…

I have a set of rocks that I painted up like gray rocks for more scatter terrain. I overbrushed with gray, used a black wash over the pieces, then went back in with a white highlight.

I liked the rock so much, I made another set using my Underdark paint theme (Midnight Blue and Turquoise). I already had some scatter rocks for Underdark, but I really like how these look. After Curse of Stradh, Out of the Abyss was my favorite sandbox 5th edition adventure, at least the 1st half when the party is trying to escape the Underdark.

I have also been printing out more resin miniatures. My latest run is these cliff harpies from Artisan Guild. These are free if you sign up for their Vanguard collection.
I work tonight, but I am off from my 2nd job until Friday night. I am hoping that I can get through a bunch of miniatures…fingers crossed.
Keep on gaming!
