Happy Sunday and welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts!
This week was another week of terrain pieces and using AI to help my 3D printing business look more professional.

I finished up the last two garden pieces as graveyard statues. These will look good in my graveyard terrain piece that I will make this summer.

Here are two of the four ruined walls that I printed out and painted this week. These would go well with the ruined churches that I have created in the past. If I ever break out my Frostgrave stuff, I have plenty of pieces to build a nice set to play.

Here are some tree stumps that I printed and painted. These will work with my swamp terrain. I actually made four sets of these, so I should never run out of stumps. I can always put some on Etsy if I feel that I have too many.

I printed out some cavern pillars as well. I have one set of bare PLA, and this set that I painted up with my Underdark color scheme. I am planning on putting them on my Etsy store.

Here are some spiral pillars that I made this week. I have one set of bare PLA and this painted set. These pillars will also be on my Etsy store. That makes three different styles of pillars available now.
Talking about my Etsy store, I have been ok with sales, and I have been including a Thank You card along with the free miniatures in every order. I have been using some cards that my brother created for me years ago when I started this endeavor.

With the growing ability of AI art, I thought I would see what it could do. I gave it a brief description of my business and asked it to make a logo for the company to include with the card.

Not too bad for 30 seconds of work. If it could do this, what could it do with actual pictures of miniatures that I have made?
I took a few pictures of models that I have painted over the years that I liked, and I asked ChatGPT if it would be able to create some business card sized Thank You cards for my printing business. I asked it to keep the cartoon-like style of the initial card, move the website address to the back of the card, and add in DM David along with a job title.
Here is what it made for me:

Here is the card using Nidhogg.

Here is the card using the Blue Sladd.

Here is the card using my Beholder.

The back of all of the cards
Not bad! If you get something from my stores from now on, you will be getting one of these cards with your order.
Keep on gaming!
I have found AI to be really helpful with generating thumbnails for my YouTube channel, so I’m not surprised it was able to help you generate these thank-you cards. They look smashing by the way.
Etsy. I’ve often thought about opening a store, but I’m not a designer, so I would have to offer other’s works and think purchasing a creative license upfront would kill any profits, especially if the store went unnoticed.

I have several licenses. It isn’t as bad as you think. Some just want a percentage of the sales and others a small monthly cost ($5).

Hmm. Might be time to revisit this idea. Thanks!

There is A LOT of Etsy stores selling miniatures and I would bet most of them don’t get the licenses they need. I have been doing it for a few years and I am lucky to get an order or two a month. I really use the stores as a way to get rid of extra items, not for a real source of income. Hopefully, you have a better experience.

I can see that. More of my extra miniatures have gone on eBay. The stuff I print is either for a diorama or gaming, but I don’t think anyone would pay me for it.
