Welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts and another Worldbuilding Wednesday!
Recently, I saw a video from Earthmote about using a map-making program called Tiled. You can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/14AqSa7Jr9g?si=_mVGb2j2mzz3crGK. He used the program and a tileset to make 16-bit maps in the video. Since I am in Gen X, I grew up playing 8-bit and 16-bit games back in my childhood so piqued my interest.
I went ahead and got the program/tileset and decided to recreate my Golden FIelds map for Shadows of the Sundered Throne,

Here is the original player’s map using Worldographer, my go-to map-making program so far.

Here is the same map (with a few of the other locations recently placed for the DM) from Tiled using the 16-bit tileset. It gives me an old-school feel like something you would see while playing Legend of Zelda. One thing that is missing is the hex coordinates in Tiled. I will have to see if there is a way to do it. If you know how, please leave a comment and let me know. I would really appreciate it.

If I have some free time, I might have to go back and use this for the world map. There are still a lot of areas and items in this map that are missing and could be added.
What is your favorite map-making program? Tileset? Please feel free to leave a comment
Keep on gaming!
