This Week in Tabletop: Paint Projects and Future Plans

01/21/2025

Happy Tuesday and welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts!

Let’s look at what I have on the painting table this week.

The dragon turtle is stated. This model from The Printing Goes Ever On is a large model that has been fun to paint so far. I have been recording the painting for a future YouTube video so it is taking a little longer than normal, but I like it so far. I plan on doing the claws and beak with a bone color (especially to tone down the yellow on the beak), I need to dry brush a tan on the shell and a lighter green on the skin then figure out what to do for the base. I was thinking of adding a seashell and some grass. Maybe an aquarium plant piece?

I also have a pair of Ironmoor Trolls (The Printing Goes Ever on) on the table. I have them primed and highlighted. I even started to paint the skin on one of them.

With the extreme cold moving into the area, my printers are silent. My office gets a little chilly and it causes the FDM prints to lift off the bed. The resin likes it warmer so I will just wait until the temperature climbs a bit before turning them back on. It should be fine since I have 50 or so models waiting for the painting table anyway.

I am hoping this week to finally get my Neon Skies hacking tower primed. I might add a few more pillars to the levels to make it more stable before priming it. I should have designed it to have the rods pass through the levels for strength. I really don’t want it to break during play. I am thinking of going with black primer, a light blue paint from an airbrush over the letters to make them look like they are glowing, and then finishing up the letters with white paint with a brush.

After that, I just need to craft up the vehicle chase terrain (you can see what it looks like here on Wyloch’s channel), finish painting up all of the models I have printed out (see above although I did prime them all), and I should be ready for a game of Neon Skies. I might do some character generations first so I get a handle on that and maybe a combat simulation and vehicle chase solo.

The book is still in the process of printing. Wyloch has been keeping us updated and there are some delays but this is Kickstarter. I have backed over 60 projects at this point so I am used to delays and such. Cartoon Action Hour: Season 3 took 2 years to get the physical book to me and I am still waiting for City of Titans to have a playable game (November will be 10 YEARS LATE!)
