Weekend Updates: Finished Miniatures and Nostalgic Finds

01/12/2025

Happy Sunday and welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts!

This week was another prepping week. Since I hadn’t posted any completed projects in a few weeks, I sat down and finished one model.

I finished this barbarian fighter from Brite Minis. Not my best paint job but it is finished and off the table,

I also finished some more square pillars for my Etsy store. Some are painted like these, and some are bare PLA, so you can paint your own.

While I was doing some cleanup, I saw a box labeled “DRAGONS” on the shelf in the storage closet. I pulled it out and went through it. It had been a while since I looked in there. I found a lot of dragons that I had forgotten about. The two on the left are all official D&D miniatures from D&D board games I believe. The one on the left was a dragon turtle I bought online (I think it is from Reaper). It could be used for a baby dragon turtle but isn’t as impressive as a dragon turtle should be.

I also found a lot of plastic dragons I got them from a friend who used to play in my games back in the day when we had a local board game club called the Malted Meeple. She worked at Goodwill and would snag these dragons when we saw them arrive. I based them on 4″ wooden disks. I will add a simple kitty litter flock, paint them black, and dry brush the flock with a light gray. I will probably go over the dragons with a wash and touch up the paint on some.

I also found this clockwork dragon. In one of my campaigns, my wife was given a small clockwork dragon as a familiar (I believe it was my Out of the Abyss campaign). Somewhere, I have a small version of this that she used on the table. When the campaign reached the end, her patron (she was a warlock) granted her the ability to make her familiar full-size 1/day. I mounted it to a 4″ disk and it will get the same treatment as the rest of these dragons.

Now, this is a dragon turtle. This model is from The Printing Goes Ever On. I printed it out this week and got it mounted onto a 4″ base with flocking. I will prime it black and start painting it soon. I might record the painting for a YouTube video.

Keep on gaming!
