Latest Miniature Projects: From Basilisks to Cyclops Skeletons

Welcome back to Tabletop Thoughts!

This week looks like it is going to be a challenge to get items completed, but I have a lot in the process.

I have a cottage house that is almost done. I have been filming the painting process so it is taking a little longer than normal to complete. I have been adding more color to the brinks than I have in the past and I really like how it is turning out.

This basilisk is almost complete. I need to finish up the eyes, add a few highlights, and paint the rim black. I have been filming the painting of this model too.

A whole lot of miniatures are waiting for me. I probably won’t start any of these models this week. I still have four more garden pieces to convert into graveyard statues. I filmed myself doing that process and it should be uploaded to YouTube tomorrow. I have another project that I have started that is going to take some time to finish.

I wanted to do a custom piece for the table. I found these skeleton hands at my local Dollar General and thought I would try to use them in a set piece. I recently did a video where I painted a Cyclops skull (watch it here) and thought that would make a great item to use with the hands.

I printed out another skull and I started with an XPS scrap piece for the base. I cut it into shape and sanded it down to make it smooth. I added scrap XPS pieces for rocks and hot-glued the skull down. I used Sculptamold on top of the base for texture and added the skeletal hands.

It has been sitting on the table drying overnight. Next, I will go over the piece to smooth out any jagged bits in the Sculptamold then coat the entire thing in black paint/ Mod Podge mix. That will seal the piece and prepare it for the painting step. I have been filming this project as well for my YouTube channel. That should be uploaded in December (I have quite a few videos in the pipeline)

Keep on gaming!
