I reviewed Five Torches Deep almost three years ago. It is a decent game that requires a lot of work or another system (like 5E) to work correctly. I liked many rules: how light works, spellcasting rolls, and the random dungeon generator. A lot of these ideas are in Shadowdark now… You can see the original post here.
I recently started making random encounters and dungeons to build up a stable of Schrödinger’s Scenarios that I can break out when needed. You can see my discussion if you don’t know what those are: https://tabletop-thoughts.com/2024/08/09/schrodingers-scenarios-in-tabletop-role-playing-games/
I am working with Mythic Emulator and its variations, Five Torches Deep, Shadowdark Random Tables, and the Covetous Poet’s Adventure Creator to give the basic ideas I will flush out. I am using Five Torches Deep’s random dungeon generator with a Rubik’s Cube to help create a location. I used it to generate a dungeon one-shot adventure I ran for my daughter, her boyfriend, and my wife a few months ago. You can see that adventure here.

I am also thinking of starting a Tabletop Thoughts YouTube channel. I am working to get the items I need for the channel so you might see something by the end of the year. I am thinking of just going through some of my Schrödinger’s Scenarios creation sessions and showing off my miniatures and terrain at this point in the process. I might do some miniature painting or terrain builds but nothing big.
Keep on gaming!
