Weekly Update: Miniatures and Monthly Giveaway – September 2024

09/01/2024

Happy Sunday and welcome back to another Weekly Update! I got quite a few items done this week despite having four days at the second job.

Here is a demon-like creature that is printed out in resin. Instead of the normal reds I would pick, I used an orange color. I used a matte finish on it, but it still looks glossy. I might try to respray it.

I got two more Gloomhaven trees printed this week. These trees are FDM and printed out in two parts.

The bear is printed in resin and the model is from The Printing Goes Ever On.

The barbarian is printed in resin. I don’t remember where I got the model, but it is based on the new Heroquest barbarian.

The Oytugh is printed with filament and the model is from Brite Minis. I have done these in the past using browns, so I went with a blue for this model to give it a more alien feel.

The knight at the end is printed in resin and the model is from Fat Dragon Games. This model looks great in FDM as well. Fat Dragon Games does a really good job.

Here is a small spring printed out on an FDM printer. The model is from Brite Minis. I used acrylic inks for the colors and covered the water with gloss Modpodge to make it look wet. This would be a nice scatter terrain piece to drop onto a forest scene on the table.

Here is an enchanted pond from The Printing Goes Ever On. It was also printed out using filament on an FDM printer. I used acrylic inks on this pond with the gloss Modpodge for the water and lily pads. This is more of a set piece than scatter terrain. Maybe this is the home of a dryad or magical pool guarded by a druid. What would you use a piece like this for? Leave your ideas in the comments.

I was also thinking about the monthly giveaway starting this month. My idea is to have subscribers to this site leave a comment on an announcement post about midway through the month that details the prize. That way, it is only the subscribers that would like the prize that are in the drawing.

As for the prize, I was debating whether I should do more unpainted FDM miniatures to help clear the table or if I should do a painted resin miniature. So, I decided to let the readers choose. There is a survey that lists the different options for September. Please choose whatever you would like to see. The link to the survey is below:
