Weekly Update – Miniature Painting and Printing Plus Storage Project

08/18/2024

Happy Sunday and welcome back for another Weekly Update! I managed to complete a few more miniatures this week with all of my side projects.

Here is an Elven and a Dwarven fighter from The Printing Goes Ever On. I might play in a one-shot in September and am considering playing as a fighter. One of these miniatures will probably be used for my character.

This is a miniature from Brite Minis. I am thinking of using this for Neon Skies, maybe as the XP90 Security Bot. I really need to make some time to sit down with the book (PDF at the moment) and read the character section. I want to make a character and run it through a simple encounter to feel out the rules. After that, I can see about playing a game online or with friends/family.

One of the side projects I had was getting my 3D printers back up and running. The Ender 3 Pro needed maintenance and the Mars 3 resin printer just had failures. The resin tank had a pinhole in it and it was leaking resin onto the LCD screen. I had to CAREFULLY remove the resin with a knife. I bought new tanks and screen protectors so this doesn’t happen again.

As you can see, I went right back to printing miniatures as soon as it was operational.

The hags from The Printing Goes Ever On are printed and waiting for priming and airbrush highlights.

The other side project was this storage unit. I got it off Temu and the instructions to assemble it are AWFUL. If you don’t know, I am an engineer at my day job. I am used to looking at schematics and assembly drawings. I can tell that the person who made those instructions NEVER actually put the unit together.

I am using this unit to store all of the tabletop items that I have made over the years. While it doesn’t hold all of them, I can use it to protect the pieces I like the best from dirt and dust. You can see all of my different UDTs and battle maps on top.

Keep on gaming!
