YouTube Channels That You Should Be Following

08/18/2023

Happy Friday! I was going through my YouTube channels recently, looking at the variety of different subjects that I view when I thought I should have a post about the different channels that I watch that I think you should be watching too.

I am going to keep the list strictly to Tabletop Games (No politics or stuff like that).

Terrain Crafting / Miniature Hobby & Painting

Black Magic Craft – A great channel I have watched for years. There are plenty of videos on how to make terrain for your RPGs. He is still very active and creates videos regularly.

Broken Terrain – A great channel that shows you how to build terrain for your tabletop. I enjoy this channel since I feel that this is about my crafting skill level so the project I see here are something that I can recreate at home. I made my dungeon canvas board after watching this channel.

Craft Nicks – Another crafting channel that I follow that is about my skill level. He also does cover some RPG advice on the channel.

Crafts and Minis – A channel that recently started to do videos again. He mostly shows off painted miniatures and gives ideas on how you can do the techniques to get results like him.

Creatures Caverns & Crafting – A channel that does a lot of sci-fi and post-apocalyptic terrain building. The channel introduced me to Dungeon Crawl Classics and Mutant Crawl Classics. A large back catalog but hasn’t put out a new video in 9 months.

Devs & Dice – An awesome terrain channel. The stuff he makes is incredible, way above my level of crafting.

Dirty Basement Terrain – A new crafting channel (50 videos) that is about my level of crafting. It is nice to see others making stuff to give you ideas on what to craft next.

Dungeon Miser – This channel is inactive now, but it has a lot of videos on making items for your fantasy game for very little money.

Dungeons and Drybrushing – A newer channel that helps you build terrain for your gaming table. The videos are easy to follow and he makes items that you can really use in a game.

Hall of Craft – This channel presents ways to make items for the table. The tutorials are easy to follow, but the channel hasn’t had a new video in 4 months. Hopefully, they come back with some new great ideas.

Scattered Terrain – Another crafting channel that has gone dark after I started watching their videos. She has some great ideas and projects but hasn’t made a video since Christmas 2022.

StellarianGames – A great terrain-building channel that has been quiet for a few months now. He builds some great pieces and even did a DM gift box series that was fun to watch.

Storycraft Society – An active channel that builds terrain for the table. His crafting skills are way better than mine but I enjoy watching the pieces come together.

Tabletop Alchemy – A channel that I recently found and enjoy. His personality is the best and his crafts are good.

Tabletop Minions – Another great channel that I enjoy. Lots of videos, advice, painting tips, etc. You need to watch this channel.

The Gaming Tome – A fun channel to watch. He paints miniatures, makes terrain, etc.

TheDMsCraft – You have to know who DM Scotty is if you ever made ANYTHING for tabletop gaming. He is the grandfather of the craft and got me started in the hobby years ago. His EZ6D game is a great read and would be great to play at a con.

TheMonsterPainter – A fun channel to watch as he paints up miniatures.

Wyloch’s Armory – My favorite crafting channel. His projects are easy to follow, he does great work, and he explains the details in a manner that I can follow. His Dungeon Crafting Essentials series is great for new crafters that want to make something to get onto the table and don’t have all of the skills from years of crafting. He went through and made the ENTIRE TOMB OF HORRORS and WHITE PLUME MOUNTAIN! A MUST FOLLOW IF YOU CRAFT!

RPG Advice

Adventures with Dice – A gaming channel that talks a lot about old-school gaming and other subjects.

Bandit’s Keep – A channel that I recently started to watch. There are a lot of videos about playing RPGs and advice on running the games.

Blandco – A channel that does a little of everything. I like the host’s sarcastic attitude and variety of subjects. He does miniature painting, Goodwill finds, RPG news, etc. He is still active.

Bob World Builder – A RPG news and advice channel.

Daddy rolled a 1 – RPG advice channel that is still relatively new (less than 6 months). They give good advice and they do D&D history videos too.

DM Tales – A channel that talks about different RPG systems and gives advice about running games. He has a decent backlog (128 videos) and seems actively making more.

Dungeoncraft – Professor Dungeon Master is one of the best out there. I am a Patreon even! He did more crafting at the beginning of the channel but the channel is still good. I love the UDT idea and use them almost exclusively.

Dungeon Dudes – The pair of hosts do a great job of breaking down the D&D game and making it make sense. They also do a live play for a setting they created. I have listened to most of the campaign and it is still going.

Dungeon Masterpiece – Baron does a great job of helping you build and play a better tabletop fantasy game. His insights are great and his tips are useful.

House DM – Great advice with a few videos on making items for the tabletop.

Loki’s Lair – A channel that I have been following for a few months now and has become one of my favorites. A lot of great advice on running the game, especially hex crawls. He has a few live play games going on for Shadowdark, a new RPG that was just Kickstarted this year.

Matt Colville – One of the greats in the YouTube arena. I have watched his videos for years. I have backed all of the Kickstarters and watched the Master of the game give out tips and tricks to make the game better.

OldeGreybeard – A channel that talks about D&D 4E in a good way (I liked it back in the day).

Power Word Spill – a newer channel that talks about roleplaying games and gives advice on running them better.

Roll with Me – A channel that I watch for advice on Monster of the Week, a game that I recently got. I am reading through the book when I can and hopefully will play someday.

Seth Skorowsky – A great channel to follow. He does advice, module reviews, tutorials, etc. He does skits with himself as different NPCs and players. He has won awards for the channel and he deserves them!

Sly Flourish – A great dungeon master and author that gives great tips on making the DM job a lot easier.

The Basic Expert – Advice channel for running Old School games.

The Dungeon Coach – A great channel for homebrewing your game. Lots of ideas and tips to add to the game and he is working on making his own RPG. Fun to watch!

Wizards and Wordslingers – Another great DM advice channel. You always get something for each video.

3D Printing

3D Printed Tabletop – The channel hasn’t made a video in a year but it was a great channel when it was more active.

3DPrintingPro – He does a lot of reviews on resin printers (I don’t have one but I like to see what is happening in the industry anyway).

CHEP – A great channel about 3D printers.

Tomb of 3D Printed Horrors – Tom Tullis of Fat Dragon Games does a great job going through the world of 3D printing, especially tabletop items. You definitely need to watch if you have a 3D printer.

Well, that it is. I have quite a few channels that I follow on a regular basis (Probably why I don’t watch regular TV or streaming shows besides the must-watch like Witcher and Mandolarian)

Keep on gaming!
