Here is a sample of the stuff I picked up for crafting this week from Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Wal-Mart plus some of the ideas that I have for it:

I got 2 packs of these foam balls. I am going to make some more trees with them. I placed one in the picture as an example. I think this time I will 3D print out the trunk and make the top. While I like these trees, I think the trunk is too think and it is a little heavy (it is made from air-dry clay).

I picked up 2 packs for these foam circles. I am going to use these as part of a terrain feature. I will cover these foam pieces with Sculptamold and flock.

Some cheap moss for terrain building. I can use this moss with the trees for ground cover and on any outdoor terrain.

I like to use these when painting. I got 2 packs (12 pieces). I try to clean them up when done but after a while, they are just too messy to save.

Dollar Tree Fairy Garden stuff is great. You can just base these and drop them on the table for Feywild terrain or paint it darker and use it for the Underdark. These look better than the mushroom I make by hand and it takes little effort to make them table ready.

A sand timer. Not really for crafting but it is a great tool to have at the table to add some tension to a scene or to keep the game moving. You might have one of these players that takes forever to decide on what to do on their turn. Drop a timer on the table and if the sand runs out, the character takes the Dodge action that turn.

I love using counting chips as bases for many of my cheap miniatures. These are smaller than the 1″ chips I usually use. I would save these for Small-sized creatures.

3″ wood circles are great for Huge-sized bases or just as a base for terrain pieces. The wood doesn’t warp easily so it is better than chipboard or thin cardboard.

Disney Princess figures make great statues. I can print out a base, use a cap from something like detergent or juice, or just add to the base that she is already on.

Cheap brushes for spreading glue and stuff around. These will save my good brushes for paints.

These 8″x10″ canvases are nice for painting on but I was thinking of using them to make a more durable dungeon set. Just stamp out a pattern like the one in the background onto the canvas and you have something that can survive travel to the game. You can make 2 or 4 of them, depending on the size you need. You then place items like it was a UDT platter and you are good to go.
Keep on gaming!
