Getting back into Solo Roleplaying with Mutants and Masterminds

01/12/2022

Years ago before the third edition (sometime around 2005 to 2011), I used to post regularly on the AtomicThinkTank under the alias of Thunderstike. There were a few of us that would post almost daily on the site, creating characters, stories, etc.

I had a bunch of original characters that I would create stories for that helped me learn the rules and entertain myself at the same time. I was thinking about doing that again, just to get a better familiarity with the current third edition rules.

To create the adventure that I will “run”, I will use The Covetous Poet’s Adventure Creator and Solo GM Guidebook. I was part of the Kickstarter for this years ago. I can use this to help with the GM side of the adventure. I will roll up an adventure structure, at least a starting scenario and background then let the dice and decision tables control where it goes from there. Once I have the basic idea of the adventure, I will post it here for all to see.

We are going to need some heroes for this. I decided to not use the Superhero Saturday heroes for this and I am going to use some heroes that I already have created.

1st up will be the team leader, Doc Battle!

Doc Battle is a super-intelligent gadgeteer. His alter ego is Dr. Brian Battle, CEO and leader engineer at Battle Industries. He has dual Ph. Ds in Physics and Electrical Engineering. He invented, among other things, a super-strong protective material called Absorboweave. He uses a commercial-grade version of Absorboweave to make tactical vests for military and police departments. An advanced version of Absorboweave is used in his Battle Suit.

Doc Battle also has a Battle Visor (all of his devices are named after him; he has a HUGE ego) that assists him with combat. He is a good martial artist without it, but with it, he is one of the best-unarmed fighters in the world. His Battle Boots provide him with flight and his Battle Belt gives him added strength and endurance.

He has used some of his fortunes to build a Battle Hall, a headquarters for the team: the Battle League!

For complications, I gave him EGO and RESPONSIBILITY. Doc Battle knows he is smart and makes sure everyone else knows it as well. He believes that he is always right. He is still CEO and lead designer at Battle Industries so that does take some of his time. If he would neglect it for too long, there is a possibility that the company would suffer.

The stats for the Battle Hall are on the bottom of the sheet.

Up next will be the paragon of the Battle League, Corporal Canada!

Keep on gaming!
